Mariska Hargitay to Host 78th Emmy Awards on NBC
NBC announced that Mariska Hargitay will host the 78th Emmy Awards on September 14 at Peacock Theater. The event marks the first time in 15 years a woman has hosted the ceremony.

NBC will broadcast the 78th Emmy Awards on September 14 with Mariska Hargitay serving as host. m. ET and will air live on NBC and Peacock. This marks the first time in 15 years that a woman has hosted the awards show. Hargitay is best known for her role as Captain Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, NBC’s longest-running primetime live-action drama series.
Before the Law & Order role, Hargitay trained with an improv comedy troupe. She also appeared in popular 1990s comedies. Hargitay has won two Emmy Awards. In 2006 she received the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. In 2018 she won for News and Documentary as executive producer of a documentary.
