The domestic violence conviction involved repeated punches to the face, choking, slamming a door into the face, and throwing objects at his former girlfriend, Nora Haukland, according to Judge Jon Sverdrup Efjestad. Hoiby faced a total of 40 criminal charges that included assault, drug-related crimes, and violations of a restraining order.
He was charged with sexually assaulting four women between 2018 and 2024 while they were asleep or otherwise unable to resist.
Prosecutors had sought a prison sentence of over seven years from the Oslo District Court. Hoiby, who is 29, heard the verdict via video link from prison due to health issues. He is the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a prior relationship and does not hold an official royal title.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit suffers from pulmonary fibrosis and is awaiting a lung transplant.
