reviewjournal.comMarty O'Donnell won the Republican primary for Nevada’s 3rd congressional district and will face Democratic Rep. Susie Lee in the November general election. O'Donnell is the composer for the Halo and Destiny video game franchises.
The Halo games have sold tens of millions of copies since 2001. President Donald Trump endorsed O'Donnell on Truth Social in April. Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo also endorsed him. Trump wrote that Rep. Susie Lee wants open borders, men playing in women’s sports, transgender policies for everyone, defund the police, and to take away the Second Amendment.
He added that Lee voted against the biggest tax cut in history, including no tax on tips, and fought to cut rural healthcare. O'Donnell has written that enthusiasm for the re-release of the original Halo stems in large part from the wokification of the gaming industry.
He stated that after years of gamers fighting the infiltration of DEI in the industry, they are finally winning, and that he saw firsthand the beginning of DEI in the industry.
Rep. Susie Lee has held the seat since 2019. She is a former second-grade teacher who has opposed eliminating the Department of Education and has pushed for increased federal funding for public schools, special education, and after-school programs.
President Donald Trump carried Nevada’s 3rd congressional district in 2016 and again in 2024. Former President Joe Biden carried it in 2020. Nevada’s 3rd congressional district has a significant Hispanic population, and many voters are connected to Nevada's gaming, hospitality, and tourism industries.
O'Donnell supports strict border control, a finished border wall, and targeting human and drug trafficking. Lee has occasionally supported tougher border-security measures but opposes efforts to restrict birthright citizenship.
