Maryland Teen Arrested on Child Neglect Charge After Leaving Infant Alone
A 19-year-old Maryland woman was arrested Monday after police found a 6-month-old infant alone in a home. Officers took custody of the child and placed it with Child Protective Services.

Daycare worker Kira Faust was taken into custody after officers responded to a report of an unattended infant. Police said the child was found in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.
Faust told officers she had left the infant at home while she met friends at a McDonald’s in Bel Air, about 10 miles away. Aberdeen police worked with Bel Air police to locate her. Officers took temporary custody of the child. Staff at UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center provided baby supplies while Child Protective Services arranged a safe placement.
Faust was released on her own recognizance after being charged with child neglect. Police did not disclose her exact relationship to the infant. Faust’s most recent employment was listed as a daycare teacher at Churchville Presbyterian Preschool and Daycare in Aberdeen, according to her LinkedIn profile.
The preschool did not respond to requests for comment.
