Former Australia batter Matthew Hayden will coach Glasgow Cosmic in the European T20 Premier League's first season. BBC Sport reported that Hayden has signed up for the role ahead of the tournament, which runs from 26 August to 20 September. Hayden, 54, retired from playing in 2012.

His most recent coaching position was as batting coach for the Gujarat Titans in the 2026 Indian Premier League season. He also held batting and mentoring roles with Pakistan's coaching staff from 2021 until after the 2022 T20 World Cup. Hayden played 103 Tests, 161 one-day internationals and nine T20s for Australia between 1993 and 2009.

73 in 184 Test innings. Matthew Mott will serve as Hayden's assistant at Glasgow Cosmic. Mott coached England's white-ball team between 2022 and 2024.

New Zealand opener Finn Allen, South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi and former England all-rounder Liam Livingstone have agreed deals to play for Glasgow Cosmic. The franchise is backed by the Mugafi Group, an India-based entertainment business. The European T20 Premier League is run in collaboration with the cricket boards of Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands.

Teams are based in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The first edition will be staged in The Hague and Dublin.
