Members of the Mauritanian Coast Guard were patrolling off the coast of Nouadhibou on April 23. Ahmed, a 34-year-old Senegalese man, said everyone wants to leave but no one can get through since security was stepped up.
Ahmed keeps a low profile in Mauritania to evade constant police checks. His name has been changed for security purposes.
