Mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt held a meet-and-greet in Sherman Oaks on Saturday. He spoke individually with residents instead of giving a speech.
news.google.comMayoral candidate Spencer Pratt held a community meet-and-greet outside a home on Longridge Avenue in Sherman Oaks on Saturday. The event took place in the district represented by one of his opponents on the June 2 ballot. Pratt used social media to invite the public and spent more than two hours greeting supporters.
Pratt declined interview requests and did not deliver a speech.
He instead spoke with voters one by one under sunny conditions. Residents raised concerns about street cleanliness, crime, open-air drug use, and homelessness. One attendee said the candidate is advocating for family safety and security.
Pratt has called for increasing Los Angeles Police Department staffing to 12,500 officers over the next decade. He has also said the city should pursue a treatment-first approach for people with drug addiction living on the street. He has blamed the current mayor for the 2025 wildfire that destroyed much of Pacific Palisades, including his home.
Others expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as an influx of people entering the country for criminal reasons. A resident of West Hollywood who attended the event said he cannot vote in Los Angeles but still supports change. Pratt has been running behind the current mayor in voter surveys while sometimes swapping places with his councilmember opponent for second and third place.
