Media Companies Present 2026 Upfronts In New York Next Week
Eight media companies and streamers will present their advertising sales events in Manhattan from May 11 to May 13. The schedule features familiar venues with some location changes for three participants. Overall upfront spending declined last year while digital advertising continued to expand.
DeadlineMedia companies and streamers will hold their annual upfront presentations in New York next week, offering advertisers a familiar format despite industry changes. The events are set for three days from Monday morning to Wednesday night. Eight companies will make presentations in theaters across Manhattan.
NBCUniversal will open the week and YouTube will close it. Late-night hosts will deliver their usual commentary at two of the events. Three companies have new locations but remain in Manhattan. Those venue shifts represent the only notable changes to the schedule.
The industry has faced consolidation, developments in artificial intelligence and macroeconomic pressures. The upfront week allows participants to maintain established patterns that emerged after the Covid-19 pandemic. Two companies will not hold full upfront presentations.
Paramount and The CW have chosen smaller-scale events for ad buyers. Paramount conducted its presentation in Los Angeles last month following its merger with Skydance. Spending in the upfront market declined to $17.8 billion last year from $18.4 billion the year before, according to research firm Media Dynamics.
The overall advertising sector has shown resilience with growth from digital platforms offsetting reductions in traditional television. Live sports have supported pricing in the scatter market due to challenges in advance commitments. Digital advertising is projected to exceed $80 billion this year, the trade group IAB reported.
Advertiser sentiment has remained largely positive. An iSpot survey of 360 brand marketers found that 31 percent plan to maintain or increase upfront spending. Half of the respondents intend to increase investment in social video and streaming. Budgets are concentrating in channels with greater accountability.
Recent earnings calls from media companies have included positive assessments of advertising conditions despite external pressures such as international conflicts, fuel price increases and inflation.
Upfront Schedule The presentations begin on Monday, May 11. Warner Bros.
Discovery will hold its event on Wednesday, May 13 at Dear Irving Broadway. The full schedule for all eight companies runs through Wednesday evening.
