Mercedes-Benz Plans 2028 Electric Van With 31-Inch 8K Screen

Mercedes-Benz will introduce the VLE electric van for the 2028 model year. The vehicle measures 216 inches long and offers seating for up to eight passengers across three rows. The VLE 400 4MATIC model provides all-wheel drive and 416 horsepower from dual motors.

The VLE 300 model uses front-wheel drive and produces 272 horsepower. Both versions share a 115-kilowatt-hour battery that Mercedes-Benz projects will deliver 435 miles on the WLTP cycle or about 350 miles on the EPA cycle.

Second-row passengers receive heated and ventilated captain's chairs, a 22-speaker Burmester audio system supporting Dolby Atmos, and a 31.3-inch ultrawide 8K display. The screen can split into two 15-inch 4K panels, and Bluetooth headsets allow separate audio feeds.

The dashboard uses three screens that form the MBUX Superscreen, including a 10.25-inch gauge cluster, a 14-inch center display, and a 14-inch passenger screen. USB-C ports are available in all rows, along with a fold-out laptop tray and temperature-controlled storage.

An 800-volt architecture supports up to 300 kilowatts of DC fast charging, adding roughly 200 miles of range in 15 minutes. Adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering are standard. The company states the van will include active lane-keeping assistance and an automated parking system. Full self-driving capability is not offered.
