Merlín the Duck Reaches Azteca Stadium Perimeter but Barred from Mexico Match

com reported. The 2-year-old duck traveled in a transport crate with owner Carla Gómez and her son Cristian. He received access to the grounds to film a segment with Televisa before being required to leave under FIFA regulations that prohibit animals from entering venues.
A FIFA tournament spokesperson confirmed Merlín was allowed on the perimeter but not inside the stadium. Gómez said the recent days have been crazy and that the family would never stop being grateful for the experience. She added that everyone is truly amazed by Merlín.
Merlín has appeared in interviews, visited television studios, mingled with supporters at the Zócalo fan fest, gone to Netflix, and visited the presidential palace while wearing a green Mexico jersey. At least two trademark applications sought rights to his name, but registration was granted to Gómez. Following hundreds of fan requests, the family will watch Mexico’s national team live.
Gómez stated that Merlín is a lucky charm and that with him the Mexican national team will win again today.
