Meta announced parental supervision tools for Threads on Tuesday. Parents and guardians will be able to view their teen's time spent on the platform, set daily time limits, adjust sleep mode, and manage privacy settings through Family Center. Parents will see how much time their teen spent on Threads each day for the past week, including the average daily time.
They can set a daily time limit and block access during select days and hours. The limits apply across multiple devices if a teen uses Threads on a phone and laptop. Parents can limit or block access at night from 10 p.m.
With notifications muted and auto-replies on by default. They can also control who can tag their teen in posts and decide whether teens under 16 can change automatic settings to be less strict. The controls are rolling out next week in the U.S.
Meta plans to expand them globally by the end of the year, a spokesperson told TechCrunch.
