Meta to Begin Redistributing Uncashed Funds From $725M Facebook Privacy Settlement on June 9

Meta will begin distributing a second round of payments from its $725 million Facebook privacy settlement on June 9. The payments will continue for four weeks and go only to users who successfully cashed their first-round checks. @CBSNews reported that the second distribution uses money returned to the settlement administrator after some recipients did not cash their initial payments.

The court approved the redistribution to claimants who already received and deposited the first checks. The first payments went out in September 2025. 43.

Those amounts were calculated from the length of time each person used Facebook during the 15-year period covered by the settlement and from the total number of claims filed. Meta has denied any liability or wrongdoing under the settlement. The underlying lawsuits alleged that Facebook improperly shared user information with advertisers and data brokers.

The suits followed the 2018 Cambridge Analytica scandal, in which the firm scraped Facebook data to build voter profiles. The claims administrator is sending emails to notify eligible users. " Recipients will receive a second notice three to four days before their additional payment is issued.
