Meta removed the tool days after launch following user feedback. The feature had allowed image generation from public Instagram accounts by default.

The company stated the tool is no longer available. “Earlier this week, we announced Muse Image, an opt-in creative tool that let people decide whether their public content could be referenced by Meta AI,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement.
The feature launched earlier in the week as Meta’s first image-generation model from its Superintelligence Labs. It accepted photos as input and allowed users to edit results through sketches. The default setting allowed public Instagram photos to be referenced unless users opted out.
SAG-AFTRA posted on Thursday urging Instagram users to check their settings and opt out of the feature. After the discontinuation, the union stated the move was responsible given known risks of nonconsensual digital replicas. Actor Hannah Einbinder posted on Instagram that the feature had activated automatically for her account and advised users to disable the setting.
The company did not specify how many accounts were affected or provide a timeline for any future changes to the feature.
