Meta launches $115 million training program for skilled trades with job guarantees
The company will cover training, transportation, certification and wages for participants. Pilot sites open later this year in four states. Graduates receive placement offers at Meta construction sites or elsewhere.
New York PostMeta will spend $115 million on a training program for electricians, welders, plumbers and fiber technicians that guarantees each graduate a job. The program covers all training costs, transportation, certification fees and pays participants a wage.
Program details Pilot locations will open later this year in Louisiana, Ohio, Texas and Indiana. The company expects to train thousands of workers in the first year. Graduates can accept a placement at a Meta construction site or take employment elsewhere.
The program partners with the National Urban League, Associated Builders and Contractors and CBRE. Organizers said additional partners may join later.
Background and statements A company executive said the initiative aims to give workers a pathway into roles supporting data-center and AI infrastructure. The same executive noted that a prior technician-training effort in Ohio drew 35,000 applications for 1,000 slots within seven days.
A foundation leader involved in the program said the United States faces a workforce shortage that affects its ability to compete in artificial-intelligence development.
