Camilo Campos-Hurtado received a 30-year prison term after pleading guilty to multiple child exploitation counts. Federal prosecutors had sought a longer sentence. The case involved offenses committed while he worked as a soccer coach.
Fox NewsCamilo Campos-Hurtado, a Mexican citizen living in Franklin, Tennessee, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to child sexual exploitation charges. He entered the plea in June to four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of receiving child sexual abuse material, one count of using or possessing fraudulent immigration documents, and one count of possessing a stolen or unlawfully produced identification document.
Federal prosecutors had requested a 50-year term at the July 2 hearing.
The investigation began in 2023 after a person found explicit videos on a cell phone Campos-Hurtado left at a Franklin business. The tipster reported the material to the Franklin Police Department. A later search of his home and vehicle turned up electronic devices containing child sexual abuse material and numerous counterfeit immigration and identification documents.
The offenses tied to his convictions took place between 2017 and 2021. Forensic analysis showed he had been producing child sexual abuse material since at least January 13, 2013. Campos-Hurtado worked as a soccer coach during the period and was convicted of using alcohol and drugs to sexually exploit children.
Lauren Bis, Acting Assistant Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, said Campos-Hurtado pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting children and child pornography charges after repeatedly drugging and assaulting children while working as a soccer coach.
Bis added that ICE will immediately remove him from the country if he is ever released. It was not clear when Campos-Hurtado illegally entered the United States, according to DHS.
