Mexico Files Complaints in U.S. Courts Over Deaths of 17 Citizens in Immigration Custody

Mexico announced it will file legal complaints with US federal and local courts over the deaths of at least 17 Mexican citizens held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement or during federal raids since President Trump returned to the White House last year.
@SCMPNews reported that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated her government is pursuing criminal charges while filing the complaints on Monday. Sheinbaum addressed the action at a daily press conference.
“This is not about creating conflict, far from it,” she said. ’” Sheinbaum added that trade and security ties with the United States remain in place. “We have a relationship in terms of trade, we have a relationship on security, but we must raise our voices when there are human rights violations against our fellow citizens,” she stated.
The Mexican government had previously announced plans to press for criminal charges over the deaths.
