Michael Jackson's 1979 album Off the Wall moved higher on multiple Billboard charts this week. The set rose from No. 9 to No. 7 on the Vinyl Albums tally and from No. 13 to No. 11 on the Top Album Sales list. Off the Wall also advanced on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, moving from No.
32 to No. 29, and on the Billboard 200, climbing from No. 107 to No. 93. The album had previously reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
On the Top R&B Albums chart, Off the Wall fell one spot from No. 15 to No. 16 in its second week. The arrival of another album at No. 3 contributed to the decline. Thriller remained at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Top R&B Albums charts. A compilation titled Number Ones held at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and returned to No. 4 on the Vinyl Albums chart. 193.
