Microsoft Adds 8GB RAM Surface Pro and Laptop at Lower Prices
The 12-inch Surface Pro starts at $849 and the 13-inch Surface Laptop at $949. Both models use 8GB of RAM and retain the Snapdragon X Plus chip with 256GB storage but lack Copilot Plus support.

Microsoft introduced a 12-inch Surface Pro priced at $849 and a 13-inch Surface Laptop priced at $949, each equipped with 8GB of RAM. The Verge reported the new configurations on June 24, 2026. The devices keep the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus processor and 256GB of storage.
They do not support Copilot Plus features, which require at least 16GB of RAM. The original 2025 models launched with 16GB of RAM and 256GB storage at $799 for the Surface Pro and $899 for the Surface Laptop. Microsoft raised those prices in April 2026 to $1,049 and $1,199 respectively.
The new 8GB versions cost more than the $599 MacBook Neo. Windows Central first reported the configurations.
