Microsoft Announces Two New Xbox Exclusives While Releasing Most Major Titles on PS5
Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will remain Xbox-only, while several other major titles including Halo: Campaign Evolved will release on PS5.
The VergeMicrosoft announced two new Xbox console exclusive games during its Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2026. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will not be released on rival consoles. " Sources at Xbox said the decision not to bring Gears of War: E-Day to PS5 was made fairly recently after Microsoft had already done most of the work to port the game to Sony’s console.
Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan. Fable was announced for PS5 earlier in 2026. Senua, set in the Hellblade universe, is coming to PS5. Spyro: A Real Beyond is releasing on PS5 and Switch 2.
State of Decay 3 is being released on PS5. Halo: Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6, and Fable are launching on PS5. A remaster of the original Gears of War was released on PlayStation in 2025. Microsoft shot down rumors of Starfield and Indiana Jones coming to PS5 at the time of its 2024 announcement that four Xbox-exclusive games would reach PS5 and Nintendo Switch, but both titles later arrived on the PS5.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma took over the role in February 2026. " Sharma also said Microsoft is "the number two publisher in the world" and must balance reaching large audiences with maintaining exclusive content. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and CFO Amy Hood set across-the-board targets of 30 percent profit margins for Xbox in fall 2023.
The four games brought to PS5 and Nintendo Switch in 2024 were Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded.
