Microsoft Delays Fable to February 2027, Third Slip Since Original 2025 Target

Microsoft announced a February 23 2027 release date for Fable at its Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 7 2026. The company also released additional footage of the game, which is the first new entry in the franchise since Fable III in 2010. The Premium Edition will offer early access beginning February 18 2027.
A dedicated gameplay overview had already been shown earlier in 2026. Fable will be available simultaneously on Xbox, PC, and PS5. Microsoft detailed the cast in a blog post published the same day, naming Hayley Atwell as the villain Isabel.
Playground Games is developing Fable. The studio previously created the Forza Horizon series. Microsoft first announced Fable in July 2020 and described it as a “new beginning” for the series. The company revealed an initial look at the game in 2023.
Microsoft originally set a 2025 release window, then moved the game to 2026 before announcing another delay in late May 2026.
