Microsoft executive Yusuf Mehdi will leave the company after the next fiscal year, according to an internal memo viewed by Business Insider. Mehdi, who has worked at Microsoft for 35 years and served as executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer since 2023, wrote that he decided the time was right to plan his next step.

"After 35 extraordinary years at Microsoft - years filled with adventure, challenge, reinvention, and innovation - I've decided the time is right to begin planning for my next adventure," Mehdi wrote in the memo.

Mehdi stated he will work through the next fiscal year to help reimagine Windows for the agentic era, grow Microsoft 365 services, and bring the One Copilot vision to life. He added that he wants to ensure the team and mission are set up for continued success during the current period. Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
