Jacob Andreou, 33, took the role in March 2026 after one year at the company. He now oversees more than 11,000 employees and directs changes to the AI product line.
uctoday.comMicrosoft promoted Jacob Andreou to executive vice president of Copilot in March 2026. @FortuneMagazine reported that Chief Executive Satya Nadella made the move after Andreou joined the company in 2025. Andreou previously led product at Snap, where he joined as a design engineer in 2015 and rose to vice president of product in 2018.
He later worked as a partner at Greylock in 2023 before Microsoft recruited him. In his new role Andreou eliminated multiple versions of Copilot, merged consumer and enterprise teams, and launched Copilot Cowork, a usage-based agent platform. He also scaled back Copilot icons on Windows and began work on a super app that combines coding, chat, and an Autopilot workflow feature.
Andreou completed development of Copilot Tasks in about two months. He demonstrated the tool by ordering a McDonald’s cheeseburger to his apartment near Microsoft’s Silicon Valley campus. Microsoft unveiled new AI models and teased a purpose-built agentic platform at its Build conference in June 2026.
The company restructured its partnership with OpenAI earlier in the year, giving each side more flexibility after investing $13 billion. England’s National Health Service rolled out Microsoft 365 Copilot to more than 500,000 staff. Only about 4.5 percent of the 450 million Microsoft 365 customers pay for Copilot features, and the company’s shares have fallen double digits over the past year.
Andreou stated his top three objectives are to deliver a superior AI chat product, achieve leading model quality without being late to market, and provide a trusted way to integrate various models. Nadella wrote in an essay earlier this month that the stakes of AI involve building intellectual property around models to create human-driven value.
