Microsoft Shows Two RTX Spark Surface Devices at Build Conference
Microsoft displayed the Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box at its Build conference. Both devices use Nvidia RTX Spark chips and are scheduled for release later this year.
The VergeMicrosoft presented two new Surface devices at its Build conference on June 3, 2026. Both the Surface Laptop Ultra and the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box contain Nvidia RTX Spark chips and are planned for release later this year.
The Surface Laptop Ultra is a 16-inch clamshell model with a 15-inch mini LED display rated at up to 2,000 nits of HDR brightness. Andrew Hill, corporate vice president of Surface product, said the design prioritized performance, battery life, and display quality.
The laptop includes a larger trackpad with new haptic feedback in Windows 11. It weighs more than the 15-inch Surface Laptop 7 and features two cooling fans that remain quiet under load. The device offers four USB-C ports, one USB-A port, an HDMI port, and a full-size SD card reader.
One USB-C port on the right side is wider than the others; Microsoft has not disclosed its function. Inside the chassis, components are arranged in a labeled grid to aid repair. Microsoft has not announced pricing.
The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is a compact desktop aimed at developers. It uses the same RTX Spark chip and 128 GB of unified memory as the laptop but operates at a 100-watt thermal envelope. The aluminum chassis contains 1,000 air vents and supports sustained AI workloads. Rear ports include two USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, and a headphone jack. Pricing for both devices remains undisclosed.
