Midnight Dynamite wins Winter Challenge at Rosehill

Midnight Dynamite won the listed Winter Challenge over 1500 metres at Rosehill on Saturday. The four-year-old gelding led at the 300-metre mark and finished three lengths clear of Just Folk on a heavy 9 track. The victory gave trainer Bjorn Baker and Darby Racing back-to-back wins in the race after their success with Robusto last year.

Midnight Dynamite, a $48,000 purchase, has now earned $735,225 from nine wins and seven placings in 22 starts.

Next target An assistant trainer for the stable said the Coffs Harbour Cup on August 7 is the next start for Midnight Dynamite. The horse has four wins from six starts this campaign and is being aimed at Big Dance qualification.

winners Joint Venture won the 1200-metre two-year-old handicap by three-quarters of a length. Trainer Chris Waller said the stable would focus on improving the colt's race manners before deciding on spring targets. Roselyn's Star returned from a spell to win the 1100-metre handicap by two and a quarter lengths.

The four-year-old is scheduled for a light campaign ahead of the Magic Millions carnival in January. Rolling Magic won the 1300-metre Midway Handicap by two and a half lengths after being added late as an emergency. The five-year-old is being prepared for the $3 million Big Dance on November 3.
