Perry controlled the pace from the opening bell, landing accurate punches and strikes to the body. Diaz attempted a takedown in the first round but could not maintain control on the ground. In the second round, Perry landed a knee and followed with uppercuts and elbows that opened a cut over Diaz's right eye.
The accumulation of strikes left Diaz bloodied by the end of the round. After the second round, the cageside doctor examined the cut and Diaz's corner decided to stop the fight rather than continue.
The result was recorded as a TKO due to doctor's stoppage for cuts at the five-minute mark of the second round. Perry said after the fight that he landed good shots and kept attacking despite fatigue. >"I hit him with really good shots. I was getting really tired, but I kept hitting him.
He's tough, and there's no quit in him. Diaz had not competed in MMA since 2022. The bout was part of Most Valuable Promotions' first MMA event, which also included other high-profile matchups.
