Mike Trout expects to return to the Los Angeles Angels lineup next week after missing time with a right hamstring strain, giving him time to prepare for the All-Star Game in Philadelphia. Trout has been sidelined since June 17, when he strained the hamstring while running the bases against Arizona.
He completed his usual pregame routine Friday ahead of the Angels' series opener against the Boston Red Sox and plans to hit on the field over the weekend.
Manager Kurt Suzuki said Trout looked ready. "He looks good," Suzuki said before the Angels' 5-2 loss. "I saw him today when I first came in. He was obviously on the road trip, doing his thing. 866 OPS, 17 home runs and 36 RBIs in 74 games this season.
He is a three-time AL MVP and two-time All-Star Game MVP who grew up in Millville, New Jersey, about 40 miles from Philadelphia. Trout has not played in the All-Star Game since 2019. He was selected from 2021 to 2023 but missed those events due to injury and was not chosen last year after a knee injury early in the 2024 season.
