Minnesota team acquires guard in multi-team deal involving forward and draft assets

A Minnesota team acquired a guard and a forward while sending a forward and several future draft picks to a Charlotte team, according to a report published June 25. The deal also involved a three-team arrangement that expanded to four teams. The transaction effectively exchanged the guard for the forward along with an unprotected first-round pick in 2033, three first-round pick swaps, and three second-round picks.

Additional transaction On June 26, a Detroit team obtained a guard from an Oklahoma City team in exchange for two second-round picks. The incoming guard has shot above 40 percent from three-point range in each of the past four seasons and averaged 2.5 made three-pointers in 21 minutes per game last season.

The outgoing guard had been on a contract worth $11.3 million for the 2026-27 season with a team option for the following year. The Oklahoma City team reduced its projected payroll by trading two players and declining a player option, lowering its luxury-tax obligations substantially.
