Minnesota Twins Activate Byron Buxton from Injured List Before Guardians Game

The Minnesota Twins activated outfielder Byron Buxton from the 10-day injured list before Monday night's game against the Cleveland Guardians in Cleveland, ESPN reported, after he missed nine games with a right hip strain. Buxton, 32, ranks fourth in the American League and sixth in the majors with 25 home runs, including six leadoff homers.

271 with 45 RBIs and seven stolen bases this season.

He was named a starting outfielder for the 2026 All-Star Game but did not play because of the injury. Manager Derek Shelton said the team is trying to be smart with Buxton's recovery and does not want to rush him back.

"We don't want to rush him back because with 62 games left or 60 games left or whatever we have, it's an extended run," Shelton said. Buxton said the extra recovery days will help ensure he is ready for the rest of the season. "Those extra couple days didn't hurt me to make sure I got everything right before we got here and started this big series," he said.

The Twins optioned infielder Tristan Gray to Triple-A St. Paul to make room for Buxton on the roster.
