The deal removes the 31-year-old center from the free-agent market after his arrival via trade in March. McCarron played 20 regular-season games for the Wild following his acquisition from the Nashville Predators for a 2028 second-round draft pick on March 3.
The 6-foot-6 center recorded career highs of 109 shots on goal, 205 hits and 77 blocked shots during the regular season. In 11 playoff games, McCarron scored two goals and two assists while recording 27 hits and a team-leading 14 blocked shots. 5 percent of his faceoffs during the postseason.
McCarron was drafted in the first round by the Montreal Canadiens in 2013. He earned $900,000 this season on his expiring contract. 33 million against the salary cap and runs through the 2031-32 season.
