Major League Baseball made custom tabs on dugout iPads inaccessible to teams starting Wednesday night, July 15, when the second half of the season began. The tablets provide access to video, league data, and custom programs, prompting the restriction after a report singled out the New York Mets for using an expensive AI program to help pick pitches and perform other tasks.
Former Mets reliever Adam Ottavino said on his YouTube livestream "Baseball & Coffee" that the Mets were the main team MLB cracked down on and that coaches around the league had discussed the program early in the year. Ottavino, who pitched for the Mets from 2022 to 2024 and now broadcasts for the New York Yankees' YES Network, made the remarks after the report highlighted the organization's use.

"Whatever the rules are, we remain fully compliant and Major League Baseball makes those determinations," Green said before Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Asked about Ottavino's comments, Green said he saw no benefit in addressing public statements and reaffirmed that the team follows all MLB requirements.
