Mobileye to Start Robotaxi Service With 100 Vehicles in One U.S. City in 2027

It plans to expand the fleet to roughly 17,000 vehicles over the five years following the initial launch. Mobileye supplies its Mobileye Drive technology to other customers. The company stated that operating its own robotaxi service does not change its commitment to supplying those customers.
Mobileye described the service as a complementary path to market that can further demonstrate the capabilities of the Mobileye Drive platform at scale. "We believe there is an opportunity for a new approach — one built on deep autonomous-driving expertise, strong industry partnerships, and proven capabilities across the mobility ecosystem," Mobileye CEO Amnon Shashua said in a statement.
Shares of Mobileye rose around 6 percent after the announcement.
