He previously served as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Springfield College, where he earned a master’s degree in education, and held positions at Rutgers and Wagner College. “On behalf of Monmouth Athletics, we are heartbroken by the unexpected passing of Coach DiRienzo,” director of athletics Jennifer Sansevero said.

He is survived by his wife Allie and twin daughters Audrina and Giavanna. “Lou was a great person, father and coach,” head coach Jeff Gallo said. “He poured into our players and program, making a tremendous impact during his time here.
