Michael Foster, 58, faces murder charges in the Monday shooting of his niece Julia Anderson outside her Bronx workplace. The killing occurred amid a dispute over a family home in Mount Vernon. Foster previously served prison time for a 1988 manslaughter conviction.
New York PostMichael Foster, 58, of Mount Vernon, was charged with shooting and killing his niece Julia Anderson, 39, outside her Bronx workplace on Monday, New York Post reported. The shooting took place over a property dispute involving a family home at 18 Bell Avenue in Mount Vernon, Westchester County, according to law enforcement sources cited by the New York Post.
Anderson was shot multiple times in the stomach as she attempted to enter her black Jeep in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.
Foster was arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court on Thursday after being transported from the NYPD’s 47th Precinct in the Bronx on July 15, 2026. State corrections records show Foster previously served time for his role in the 1988 drive-by shooting death of Calvin Reed.
He was one of four people charged in that case and received a sentence of four to 20 years on a first-degree manslaughter conviction.
Foster was denied parole three times before his release in 1999. Calvin Reed was the father of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, who was one year old at the time of the 1988 killing. Rice, a native of New Rochelle, played for the 2013 Super Bowl champion Ravens.
