Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid withdrew from the jury of the FID Marseille international film festival. The festival is scheduled to run from July 7 to 12. Several directors withdrew their films from the selection to protest Lapid's presence on the jury.

The withdrawals created considerable tension around the event. Festival director Tsveta Dobreva said the invitation had been extended solely on the basis of Lapid's work as a filmmaker. "We invited Nadav Lapid solely out of respect for his filmmaking," she said.

Dobreva stated that she began receiving calls demanding Lapid be disinvited. She said she initially did not respond because she accepted the festival's decision, but the pressure continued and intensified. The episode follows a separate dispute over the planned appearance of cartoonist Joann Sfar at Théâtre de la Criée.

Lapid has lived in France since 2021. He directed the film Yes in 2025.
