The Today show co-host shared an Instagram tribute on May 10, 2026, nearly 100 days after her 84-year-old mother disappeared from her Tucson-area home. Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will after blood matching her DNA was found on her porch and her security camera was unplugged.
DeadlinePima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said on Saturday that authorities have gotten closer to solving the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old Arizona woman who was last seen on the night of January 31, 2026. Guthrie was dropped off at her home by a relative after having dinner with her daughter Annie Guthrie and was reported missing around noon the next day after she failed to attend a virtual church service at a friend’s house.

No suspect has been publicly identified.
Nanos stated three days after she was reported missing that authorities believe she was taken from her house against her will. Drops of Nancy Guthrie's blood were found at her home, including blood on her porch that matched her DNA. Her phone, heart medication and security camera, which had been unplugged, were also found at the residence.
Federal investigators collected DNA from someone other than Nancy Guthrie on her property. The FBI obtained a DNA sample from a glove found near Nancy Guthrie's home that appears to match a pair worn by the masked and armed individual spotted on doorbell camera footage.
The DNA analysis was awaiting quality control and official confirmation before being compared against known DNA profiles in a national database.
All family members have been cleared as possible suspects, Nanos said. The sheriff replied “We are” when asked if investigators were close to solving the case but offered no further details. No publicly released evidence has documented a confirmed abduction, ransom demand, or proof of life.
Suspected ransom notes were sent to TMZ and local outlets, according to earlier reporting cited in the coverage.
