NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman States High Likelihood of Discovering Extraterrestrial Life

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said on Sunday that the chances humanity will find evidence it is not alone in the universe are high. In an interview on CNN's State of the Union with Jake Tapper, Isaacman responded to a question about whether humanity is alone in the universe.

Isaacman, who has traveled to space twice, said he did not encounter aliens during those trips. He noted the existence of 2 trillion galaxies, each potentially containing numerous star systems. Isaacman stated that these factors suggest the odds of discovering evidence of other life forms are high.

Isaacman emphasized that the search for extraterrestrial life is part of NASA's scientific mission. He said NASA's role includes unlocking the secrets of the universe, including the question of whether humanity is alone. This pursuit is inherent in NASA's scientific endeavors.

The discussion on extraterrestrial life has involved recent comments from two former U.S. presidents. In February, former President Barack Obama said during a podcast interview with Tyler Cowen that aliens are real, though he had not seen them and they are not held at Area 51.

Obama later clarified on social media that he saw no evidence of extraterrestrial contact during his presidency. Days later, President Donald Trump responded to Obama's comments during an interaction with reporters. Trump said Obama gave classified information and made a mistake.

Trump then directed the government to release files related to unidentified flying objects, aliens, and extraterrestrial life. No government has confirmed the existence of extraterrestrial life. Scientists continue to investigate the possibility through various means.
