cordcuttersnews.comNASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar attended the May 13, 2026 practice session for the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Hocevar watched from the Andretti Global timing stand as the team's three drivers completed a six-hour practice on the 2.5-mile oval. The visit occurred one day after initial practice for the 110th running of the event.
Hocevar drives for Spire Motorsports. That team is part of the TWG Motorsports family, which also owns Andretti Global. Andretti Global fields entries in IndyCar, Formula One, IMSA sports cars and Formula E. During the visit Hocevar spoke with the wife of TWG leader Dan Towriss while observing practice.
He later gave an interview on pit lane while walking toward the Pagoda. Hocevar described the Indianapolis 500 as his favorite race and said he had attended qualifying sessions there as a child growing up in Michigan.
"It’s remarkable what Dan Towriss has done here," Hocevar said. "It’s no different than why I love Spire and why I want to be there. Everything Dan does, he wants to succeed in, wants to win and do everything right.
Hocevar secured his first NASCAR Cup Series victory on April 26, 2026 at Talladega Superspeedway. He said the win has changed how others perceive him, including manufacturers, team members, fans and fellow drivers. The driver added that he now receives announcements as a series winner rather than simply a driver.
Hocevar described himself as an aggressive competitor who has worked to balance speed with race finishes. He stated the recent victory provides a foundation for additional wins. Hocevar expressed interest in competing in the Indianapolis 500 one day but said he would first like to win the Brickyard 400 at the same track.
"I would absolutely love to run the Indianapolis 500 one day," Hocevar said. "I would really enjoy it. But first, I need to win a couple of Brickyard 400s here.
Hocevar said he believes he could physically fit in an Indy car despite his height but noted uncertainty about the effect of his proportions. The visit allowed Hocevar to observe differences between NASCAR and IndyCar terminology and operations. He said the two organizations maintain a close relationship through their shared TWG ownership.
Hocevar added that he had looked forward to the trip since the calendar reached May.
