Natasha Cloud signed with the Chicago Sky two weeks into the 2026 WNBA training camp after remaining unsigned through the opening of camp. The 34-year-old guard, a former champion who once led the league in assists and earned three All-Defensive Team selections, had started every game she played since 2018. The signing followed a compressed offseason timeline.
The WNBA and players association reached a new collective bargaining agreement on March 20, 2026. Free-agency negotiations opened just over two weeks later, and the draft was held seven days after that. Cloud parted ways with her previous agent shortly before negotiations began.
Cloud had been traded from the Phoenix Mercury before the season and played one year with the New York Liberty. She described a period of uncertainty during the free-agency window. "There was a point where I had my breakdown, my little moment," Cloud told ESPN.
"Yeah, I didn't know if I was going to play in the W again. " Chicago general manager Jeff Pagliocca traded Angel Reese for a pair of first-round picks and acquired Rickea Jackson during the offseason. He also signed Diggins, Carrington, Stevens and Cloud.
The Sky opened the season with four new starters and nine newcomers while Courtney Vandersloot recovered from ACL surgery. The team stands at 7-14 and occupies a lottery position after a 1-11 stretch that included five straight losses.
