NATO members signed multiple contracts for airborne surveillance aircraft during the alliance summit, according to @BreakingDefense. The largest deal covers two additional Saab GlobalEye aircraft for Sweden, expanding an earlier order placed in 2021.
The new contract is valued at approximately $1.5 billion and includes support services. A second agreement involves the U.S. Navy acquiring up to 12 MQ-4C Triton drones. The drones will be used for long-range maritime patrol missions.
Delivery of the new aircraft is scheduled to begin in the late 2020s. The drones are designed to operate at high altitude for extended periods. Officials said the purchases reflect ongoing efforts to modernize surveillance capabilities across the alliance.
