NBA teams exercise contract options ahead of free agency

Zach LaVine opted into his $49 million option with the Sacramento team. Fred VanVleet opted into his $25 million option with the Houston team. The decisions were reported by sources to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Toronto team are in trade talks involving Kawhi Leonard. Leonard has one year remaining on his contract at $50.3 million. The teams have discussed the possibility for several weeks.

Free agency outlook Teams are monitoring restricted free agents including Jalen Duren, Walker Kessler, Peyton Watson and Tari Eason. Star extension candidates include Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic, Jaylen Brown and Anthony Edwards. Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes eligible for a four-year, $275 million extension after his trade to Miami is finalized.
