Nevada Parole Board Denies Early Release for Henry Ruggs III
The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners rejected Henry Ruggs III's request for parole on Thursday. Ruggs, a former Las Vegas Raiders player, is serving a three-to-10-year sentence for a 2021 DUI crash that killed a woman and her dog.
Fox NewsThe Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners denied parole for Henry Ruggs III on Thursday, nearly five years after the former Las Vegas Raiders player caused a fatal crash while driving at speeds up to 156 mph. Ruggs, 26, had argued that he completed rehabilitation programs, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama, and expressed remorse for the deaths of Tina Tintor and her dog Max.
The board determined the progress was insufficient for early release.
Prosecutors said his blood alcohol level measured 0.16, twice the legal limit. Tintor's vehicle burst into flames on impact. Ruggs pleaded guilty in May 2023 to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. A judge imposed a three-to-10-year prison term in August 2023.
While incarcerated, Ruggs participated in work programs, including a stint at the Nevada governor's mansion. He will be eligible for mandatory parole on August 24, 2027. The board's executive director, Kathi Baker, said Ruggs can appear before the panel again three months before that date.
“Ruggs will go before the parole board again three months before his Aug. 24, 2027, mandatory parole release date.”
