NFL bars Brendan Sorsby from 2026 supplemental draft; litigation ends and he will enter 2027 draft

The NFL Players Association and quarterback Brendan Sorsby will not pursue litigation after the league decided against holding a supplemental draft in 2026, according to a memo sent to all 32 teams. The memo states there will be no further litigation regarding Sorsby's entry into the NFL and that he will instead focus on preparation for the 2027 draft. "For purposes of League and CBA rules, Mr.
Sorsby will be considered a 'Draft-Eligible' player for the 2027 NFL Draft," the memo reads. " The NCAA had ruled Sorsby ineligible to play after he wagered on college sports. A Texas court later issued a temporary injunction that cleared his path to play at Texas Tech for the 2026 season.
The Big 12 then filed in federal court seeking to punish Sorsby and Texas Tech. Sorsby withdrew his suit and declared for the supplemental draft. The NFL will not discipline Sorsby for currently known prior misconduct, an NFL source told ESPN.
Sorsby was ESPN's No. 1 player in the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. In a statement released Tuesday, Sorsby said, "I accept 100% responsibility for my actions.
