espn.comSeventeen NFL teams open the second week of minicamps Monday for mandatory workouts that run through Thursday. The sessions mark the first extended on-field work for most clubs since the end of organized team activities. Teams participating this week include the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks.
The San Francisco 49ers canceled their minicamp after high attendance during OTAs.
Participation and scheme installation Coaches will monitor how players mesh under new coordinators and new head coaches. A new defensive scheme is being installed in Buffalo, and minicamp will provide an extended look at how additions fit the system.
Several defensive players, including one tackle, have been limited in recent practices because of injuries, and their participation levels will be tracked. Officials said the current window is important for gathering information that will shape the system for the regular season.
Contract and attendance notes One cornerback eligible for an extension has not attended recent voluntary sessions. The team's coach stated that contract matters are separate from on-field preparation and expressed hope the player will report this week.
The Ravens will focus on finding a replacement at center after losing their previous starter. Twelve additional teams are scheduled to hold minicamps the following week before training camps open in late July.
