NFL teams discuss contract extensions for select players ahead of training camp

Team officials across the NFL are discussing contract extensions for players entering the final year of their current deals. The talks come as teams prepare for training camp, which begins at the end of July.

The team and its starting right guard have shown mutual interest in a long-term agreement. The player participated in all offseason workouts open to the media and has discussed the business side of the league since January. General manager Brandon Beane has completed extensions just before or early in past seasons.

Officials identified three players as core roster pillars and said they would prioritize extensions in a specific order. Agreements have been reached with two of those players, leaving one unsigned. The remaining player has stated interest in staying with the team long term.

A cornerback met with reporters after the first day of mandatory minicamp on June 9 and was asked about playing the upcoming season without a new contract. The player responded that there was still time before the season. Discussions are expected to continue, with the next checkpoint set for July 24 when most veterans report for training camp.
