NFL Teams Hold Minicamps Ahead of Training Camp

Eleven NFL teams held minicamps this week while 17 teams completed sessions last week. The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers conducted mandatory minicamps during the first week of June. The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams canceled their minicamps.

All 32 teams will begin training camps in late July after a monthlong break. ESPN's NFL Nation reporters attended practices to cover position battles, rookie performances, player quotes, and injury updates.

The wide receiver group appeared thin by the end of the offseason program. Devaughn Vele, Mason Tipton and Bub Means missed the final practice of minicamp. Jordyn Tyson and Chris Olave were limited and did not participate in 11-on-11 drills. Rookie Bryce Lance received additional opportunities and scored touchdowns during 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 red zone work.

Defensive tackle Christen Miller participated in team drills after recovering from a hamstring injury during OTAs. Cameron Jordan practiced after re-signing with the team on Tuesday, while he and Alvin Kamara watched 11-on-11 work from the sideline.

The pass rush performed well during the final minicamp practice.

Defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton and assistant coach Tanzel Smart led drills focused on explosiveness off the ball using tennis balls and short hurdles. Rookie defensive lineman Keldric Faulk said the drills emphasized discipline and timing. Truman Jones, Jacob Martin and Faulk recorded multiple sacks during a team period.

Coach Robert Saleh said Thursday's practice will be a family barbecue.

Cincinnati ended minicamp two days early.
