cnbc.comThe U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published recalls covering more than one million vehicles from Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, and Hyundai. Ford recalled 741,195 vehicles because transmission park system damage could allow the vehicle to roll away if the parking brake is not applied.
The recall covers certain 2018-2021 Navigator and Expedition models, 2020-2021 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models, and 2021 F-150 models equipped with park-by-wire functionality and 10R80 transmissions. Affected vehicles were built from January 8, 2020, to October 8, 2021.
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software and inspect and replace any damaged transmission components as necessary.
Owners of affected Ford vehicles will receive notification letters in August explaining the safety risks, with further remedy letters expected in April 2027. Jaguar Land Rover is recalling more than 250,000 vehicles in the United States because the driver's airbag clockspring connector may corrode and prevent the airbag from deploying as intended.
The recall covers certain 2020-2026 Land Rover Defender, 2021-2026 Discovery, and 2022-2026 Range Rover vehicles.
Dealers will apply a protective lubricant gel to the driver's airbag connector terminals at no cost to owners. In a notice to dealers, Jaguar Land Rover said it was committed to "delivering vehicles to our customers of the highest quality, complete with the very latest hardware and software".
Hyundai is recalling 96,310 2025-2026 Tucson, Tucson Hybrid, and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid vehicles because a software error could cause the instrument panel to fail to display the speedometer and warning lights.
The vehicles will fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, increasing the risk of a crash.
