A Norwegian official spoke at a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Sweden on the current date and said Russian nuclear weapons on the Kola Peninsula could destroy almost all American cities. The official added that Europe is increasing its defense contributions but that a strong transatlantic partnership remains necessary for mutual security.
The Kola Peninsula hosts Russia's Northern Fleet, including nuclear-powered ballistic-missile submarines that form part of Moscow's nuclear deterrent.
The same official stated that Ukraine has become a security provider and leads in drone and anti-drone warfare as well as other emerging technologies. The official also said the battlefield situation for Ukraine has improved somewhat and that Russia is in a bad place.
