Notion will discontinue its Gmail-connected email inbox on September 22 and shift focus to AI agents. User emails will remain accessible while drafts and scheduled messages require export.
TechCrunchNotion will shut down its Notion Mail product on September 22. The company said it is ending the email inbox to focus on its AI agent offering. TechCrunch reported that more than half of Notion Mail users already manage emails without opening their inbox.
The company stated it is going all in on agents to run inboxes. Notion Mail connects with Gmail, so all emails in inboxes will stay intact after the shutdown. Users must export drafts and scheduled emails to retain them.
They can also export snippets and auto-label instructions for use elsewhere. Notion’s email-based agents will continue to operate after the shutdown. The company announced the email product in preview mode in 2024 after acquiring security-centric productivity startup Skiff.
It made the product available to users in April 2025 to compete with Superhuman and Fyxer. Newer startups such as AgentMail are building email services specifically for agents.
