NSW Blues Lead 2-0 in Women's State of Origin Series
New South Wales hold a 2-0 series lead ahead of Game 3 against Queensland at Cbus Super Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:45pm AEST with only state pride remaining on the line.
New South Wales hold an unassailable 2-0 series lead in the Women's State of Origin ahead of Game 3 against Queensland at Gold Coast's Cbus Super Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:45pm AEST. The Blues secured narrow victories in the first two matches played in Newcastle and Brisbane.
Queensland coach Nathan Cross said the Maroons missed opportunities in both earlier games. "No one wants to be part of a clean sweep," Cross stated earlier this week, "and if I look at the first two games – and I've said it on record – game one, we missed a chance, but with 30 seconds to go, we were still a fighting chance, down by a point.
Game two, 30 seconds to go, we nearly score in the corner and snatch it late. So, history will show we're down 2-0, but it's a struck match between both teams in both games, and we feel like we let ourselves down in game two. Golden Boot holder Julia Robinson, Tamika Upton and starting forward Makenzie Weale are unavailable.
Destiny Mino-Sinapati will make her debut at fullback, with Lillian Yarrow added to the interchange bench. The Blues lineup remains unchanged from the previous matches.
Sharpe will referee her eighth consecutive Origin fixture.
The appointment follows the men's series opener refereed by Ashley Klein at Accor Stadium the previous night.
