NSW Housing Authority Approves 484 Projects for 150,400 Homes
The New South Wales Housing Delivery Authority has declared 484 residential projects that could deliver more than 150,400 homes across the state. The proposals include redevelopment of church land, shopping centres, universities, former factories, golf courses, hospitals and bowling clubs.

The authority was established in late 2024 to speed approvals by bypassing standard council processes. Projects target sites that were previously considered unsuitable for housing. These include church grounds, shopping centres, university campuses, former industrial sites, golf courses, hospitals and bowling clubs.
retail sites Church proposals include 172 homes at St George’s Anglican Church in Hurstville, 144 apartments at Christ Church in Gladesville, 150 units at Mascot Wesley Uniting Church and 178 homes at Narellan Anglican Church. A 20-storey, 186-apartment plan at St Francis Xavier Church in Lavender Bay has drawn resident opposition.
Shopping centre projects include 1,500 apartments at Westfield Warringah Mall, 1,002 homes at Bankstown Central and 870 homes above Supa Centa Moore Park.
industrial and recreation sites Western Sydney University plans up to 2,000 apartments on its North Parramatta campus. Parramatta Council has formally opposed the project, citing pressure on local roads and services. The former Taubmans paint factory in St Peters is proposed for 471 build-to-rent apartments.
The Corrimal Coke Works site in the Illawarra is slated for about 800 homes while preserving heritage structures. Muirfield Golf Club at North Rocks has lodged plans for 400 homes and a redesigned 18-hole course. Sydney Adventist Hospital at Wahroonga has submitted a $691 million master plan for 615 homes and a new hospital wing.
The Miranda Gymea Bowling and Sports Club is proposed for 120 apartments and 130 seniors living units. The former Blacktown City Bowling Club site is planned for 570 apartments, seniors housing and 30 affordable homes for key workers.
